Clue Into Reading Dear Third Graders and Parents, This summer we want you to be reading detectives! you will complete four cases. When you have closed all four cases, you will be clued in! For your summer reading assignment, you will need to visit your local public library and register for the summer reading program which is a cooperative project of the Maryland State Department of Education and Public Libraries in Maryland and the District of Columbia. You may register at any branch, however, be aware that you need to continue your reading program through the branch in which you register. Each county offers a variety of incentives from free tote bags and coupons to free books and prizes. With each case you complete, you will take clue cards from the bottom of your game board into your local library and exchange it for a "Clue Into Reading" reward! In the fall, you are to bring in the completed game board, excluding the clue cards you needed to hand into the librarian. We will be looking for your neat handwriting, your parents' initials, the completed puzzles on the poster, and the list of books you have read. If you have any questions, please ask before the end of the school year. Attached you will find a list of suggested books for your age. We encourage you to fully use the resources available at your local library, and have fun reading. Have a great summer! See you at the library! Mrs. Tobias Mrs. Brockmeyer |
