Audience/Participants

bulletEducators in the Archdiocese of Baltimore who desire to be leaders in the integration of Technology into the Curriculum (regardless of current technology expertise)
bulletWilling to take four, seven week courses for 3 MSDE credits per course with some face to face instructor required as well as online work
bulletTime frame: one year beginning in January
bulletNominated by Principal
bulletSelected by online application and phone interview
bulletTwenty participant opening in the first year

Goals of the Program

bulletTo continue to training of Technology Mentors for our schools
bulletTo encourage teams of technology leaders in every school
bulletTo train the trainers who will offer MSDE courses in our schools
bulletTo offer teachers of  every technology skill level the opportunity  to effectively  integrate technology in the curriculum
bulletTo encourage the development of online classrooms in our schools.

bullet Solicit and recommend teachers for the program
bulletSupport participants by reviewing course projects
bulletCelebrate the work and ideas completed in the program
bulletSuggest  teacher partnerships within the school to benefit from training
bulletEncourage publication of success within conferences and workshops such as the Technology Showcase 2008

Participant Expectations

bulletParticipants will sign their intent to complete 4 classes in the program
bulletParticipants will participate both in face-to-face sessions and online
bulletParticipants will create an online classroom to be used at their school to extend opportunities for teacher and students beyond the traditional classroom walls
bulletParticipants will mentor others in their school as directed throughout the program

Instructor Expectations

bulletInstructors will model effective use of technology
bulletInstructors will enable and support participants at all technology levels from beginners to advanced students
bulletInstructors will encourage advanced students to demonstrate their knowledge and test-out of classes where mastery already exists
bulletInstructors will be available as online resources to provide help in online work

Unique Features of the Program

bulletParticipants will be accepted and accommodated regardless of technology experience or expertise
bulletParticipants with advanced knowledge of technology will be encouraged to “test out” of basic courses
bulletAll classes will offer both face-to-face and online instruction.
bulletCourses will require a minimum of 4 face-to face sessions .Those needing more face-to-face instructor will be accommodated
bulletCourses will run for 7 weeks
bulletThree MSDE continuing professional development credits will be offered for each course
bulletParticipants will begin creating an online classroom for participants at their own schools. After completing the program the online classroom will be complete and used frequently.
