The Renaissance Period was from about A.D. 1300 and 1600.  This was the time period between the Middle Ages and the Modern World.   Renaissance is a Latin word "to be born" or "rebirth".   Renaissance also comes from Old French, renaistre, "to be born again."  The Renaissance was a time when people had more time to think -especially in areas of religion, science and philosophy.  It was also time of creative expression in the fields of music, sculpture, painting and architecture.  During this time people changed the way they saw themselves and their world.
