Classroom Monitoring Software: SynchronEyes - What are they doing on those computers all day long? Now we know...

This session will focus on the use of SynchronEyes in the one-to-one environment. SynchronEyes is a classroom monitoring program that enables the teacher to have complete visibility and control of student computers. This program is designed to help students stay on task. The demonstration will include the following:

  Screen monitoring
  Program blocking
  Chatting
  Internet blocking
  Student broadcasting
  Questions sent to teacher
  Websites sent to students
   instantly and more...

One of the best aspects of this program is found in the fact that the students do not like it. They do not like it because it works. This program is not only designed to limit misbehavior, but also to enhance instruction. Students are able to present findings to the class from their desk through broadcasting. I have found classroom monitoring software to be a 'must have' in the technology rich learning environment. This session will show its capabilities and will also allow time for discussion.

Creating dynamic teacher websites using Microsoft Sharepoint and Sharepoint Designer.

John Carroll's teacher websites were created through a customized template and feature online content editing, dynamic class assignment and homework calendars, discussion boards, student dropboxes for submitting assignments online, wiki's, photo galleries, document libraries, links libraries and much more. This workshop will give an overview of how this process evolved, show examples of our teacher sites, and provide some hands-on experience as well.

Science and the integration of Camera phones

This workshop will focus on how to integrate photos and camera phones into a general lab procedure.  Since this will be a working session, it will be necessary for you to bring your camera phone or digital camera.   Come join us for an exploration of a new era of documentation in a laboratory setting.

“I didn’t get that result in my lab.”  Did you ever hear these words and wish that you could personally observe each lab groups’ progress through an experiment or natural observation?  Have you ever sent students into a wooded area to make observations about the habitat and felt like they truly were not being attentive to details around them?

By using camera phone, students will be able to document and journal their lab and nature observation with greater detail.  This session will focus on the potential of camera phone usage in the laboratory, how to get students to journal their experience, and use it as an evaluative tool for lab data and conclusions.

St Clement

Crusaders of Learning

St. Clement is using Crusaders of Learning to enhance learning with the learning management system. This is the third year for students using the system to access assignments, submit assignments, use the collaboration boards, take tests, complete challenges, and submit book reviews. It has become a valuable asset for storing lessons plans, calendars, and clubs.
