The Physical Education discipline, as an integral part of
Catholic Education, contributes to the development of the
individual spiritually, physically, socially, intellectually,
and psychologically. Emphasis is placed on developing
health and fitness, psychomotor abilities, motor skills,
cognitive abilities, and affective behaviors appropriate for
living in a Christian manner within an ever-changing society.
As a discipline, Physical Education recognizes individual needs
and God given gifts of students. Physical Education is committed to educating
students on the importance of leading a physically active life and instilling
the goal of lifelong physical fitness. The discipline aims to cultivate
the total development and well-being of each student. A caring environment
is created and students are always encouraged to do their best, participate in a
cooperative manner, and practice the rules of fair play and good sportsmanship.
The joy of movement is modeled by the teacher at all times in a variety of
fitness activities, movement skills development, and sport skills.
The richness of other cultures will be part
of the learning experience, as children are exposed to cultural diversity
through games, exercises, and dance forms.
