For religion class the children will need to prepare a trading card and an oral report on the life of a saint due during Catholic Schools Week.

The trading card is to be 4" by 5" in size. I will supply paper (an index card cut to 4x5) but you may use other paper if you'd like. The front of the card is to contain the name of the saint(10 points) and a picture(10 points). The back of the card should include the following facts (10 points each):

Name: ___
Date of Birth: ___
Date of Death: ___
Date of Canonization: ___
Martyred: Yes or No
Feast Day: ___
Patron Saint of ___
Admirable Qualities: ___

If any of the facts are unavailable, write "unknown." Additional facts may be included. Student's name must be listed somewhere on the card. (eg. "Lorber Trading Cards"). I will show examples of trading cards in school.

          The oral report should include a biography of the saint, why the saint is honored, and the feast day. You may include photographs or other aids when presenting the report. You may dress up as your saint for the presentation. The oral presentation should be 1-3 minutes in length and should be memorized. Index cards are acceptable to use but the report is not to be read. The saint report grade will be based on content (60%) and delivery (40%). Content and Delivery grading is listed in chart below.

          I have many books on saints if you cannot locate information. In my classroom and on my web site I have a list of saints on which I have information. I will also put information on my web site to help locate other information on saints. There are many saints from which to choose. If your child has done a report on a saint in the past they may choose that saint or a different one. Please submit the name of your saint as soon as possible for approval.
