What Every One of Mr. Bailey's Students Needs To Know!

Follow these simple rules, and you'll be as happy as everyone in this picture!

Mr. Bailey works hard to make sure reading class is an enjoyable, memorable subject.  However, that doesn't mean it is easy.  Here are some things to know so that you can be successful!

The Three Most Important Things To Know:

1. Every time students are assigned to read for homework, they always will be quizzed on what they read the next day.  These quizzes are frequent, and will comprise the majority of students' grades.

2. Students need to study their vocabulary frequently!  The key to being a good reader is having a stellar vocabulary.  In class, students will frequently be given vocabulary words to study, which they will in turn be quizzed and tested on.  Study them nightly!

3. Disrespect is disgusting.  Mr. Bailey treats his students with the utmost respect and dignity.  He expects the same from them.

A Few Other Things:

  • Typed reports and homework are always preferable.  Use standard 12-point font, black ink, Times New Roman, and double space.

  • Do not put reports into binders, folders, or sleeves.

  • It's time to start learning responsibility!  When you are absent or miss class for band, it is your responsibility to find out what work you missed and to arrange a time with me to make it up.  If you fail to do so, I simply mark the work as a failure.

  • Homework loses 10% if handed in a day late.

  • Homework will not be accepted if more than a day late under any circumstances.

  • Demerits are issued for minor offenses, such as being out of uniform, failing to return paperwork, or talking at inappropriate times.

  • Detentions are issued for students who show blatant disrespect towards either teachers or other students.  This includes rolling eyes, talking back, or ignoring warnings about behavior.

  • Lastly, smile!  Enjoy every second of our time together!  I certainly try to!
