Outreach Projects

The seventh and eighth graders will work on several outreach projects this school year.  As the student council requests our service on several school wide outreach projects, we will strive to set the example for the younger grades of service to others. Be sure to check with the student council representatives to find out how you can be of service to others through these outreach programs.

The outreach project seventh and eighth graders participate in daily involves service to the Franciscan Center on 101 West 23rd Street in Baltimore, Maryland. The center accepts and distributes donations of hygiene items and food to the marginalized (those living without resources needed to live with dignity).  The hygiene items include disposable razors, shaving cream, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, soap, body lotion, shampoo, and wash cloths. The food includes any non-perishable food items along with canned meat.  Students are asked to bring these items in during the school year.  Ideally each time you purchase items for your family, you will also purchase an item(s) for those in need.  The items purchased may be brought to school on any school day. The student are asked to  place the item(s) in a container labeled "Franciscan Center". This container will be in the religion classroom. When the container is full a parent volunteer or volunteers  will be asked to deliver the items to the Franciscan Center.

The Franciscan Center was recently awarded the Maryland Association of Nonprofit Organization's Seal of Excellence for successfully completing the Standards of Excellence certification program. Carol Miles is the director of volunteer services and may be reached at 410-467-9041.
