Math in Everyday Life for Grades K-5

Learn new ways to enrich your math lessons with illustrations drawn from the real world by examining the importance of problem solving, calculators, and the Web in the elementary school classroom while addressing national math standards.

Explore and develop author studies using the Web to motivate students to read and write, as well as expand their use of technology. 

 

Searching and Researching on the Internet (Grades K-12)

Learn methods and concepts related to searching the Internet for useful information.  Explore and compare search engines and learn to use them effectively and efficiently with students.  Examine ethical issues that may arise when students use these tools in the classroom.

Discover the advantages of teaching methods that engage multiple intelligences and explore ways to implement them.  Learn to teach and assess students differently based on their individual learning preferences.

Meet the needs of all your middle school students with techniques to differentiate content, process and products. Discover methods for pre-assessment and strategies for tiered activities.  Throughout the course you will work on your final project:  a differentiated instructional unit that aligns with MD standards of learning.

Teaching Elementary Physical Science (Grades K-4)

3 MSDE Credits--Provider: PBS TeacherLine ***8 WEEK COURSE***

Experience the constructivist learning model firsthand as you deepen your knowledge of the entire range of life science topics.  This course incorporates inquiry, methodology, and metacognitive strategies including scientific reasoning, prediction, abstract and critical thinking.
